The Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association (Rehda) president, Datuk NK Tong, has warned that 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿.

Three out of four developers surveyed by Rehda reported an average increase of 13% in the overall cost of doing business, compared to 17% in the first half of 2022. Despite the rising interest rate, Tong believes that an investment in real estate remains a good hedge against inflation, as properties tend to hold better value in sticky inflation.
