The World’s First Subterranean Hotel!
Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland
The first hotel in the world to be build underground.
It’s build into the cliffs of a formerly abandoned quarry, descending nearly 290 feet / 88 meter down to a lake at the bottom of the pit.
Martin Jochman and his team designed the project and said
“The site was really a scar on the surface of the earth”
“We showed how to take a difficult and unusual site that nobody knew what to do with and make it useful again, revitalising it with a new life”
“The building has become a landmark”
“Yet the landmark here is not something that sticks out, but something that fits in”

上海佘山世茂洲际酒店 （又名：世茂深坑酒店）
上海世茂深坑洲际酒店被誉为“世界上最低的高层建筑”的五星级酒店。
项目由世界顶级设计师 Martin Jochman 带领的阿特金斯团队，即迪拜帆船酒店的原班人马担纲。
“深坑酒店”和自然坑体完全相辅相成，仿佛长在崖壁上。他巧妙结合了中国传统“太极”中阴阳的图形和概念。
