Yesterday’s CPI data shows inflation is still at 40 year high. Futures immediately started selling off and tons of companies are selling at 52 weeks low. Big techs are trading at a volatility as if they were pennies. ​

Fed will definitely raise rates, in a way trying to make it a soft landing, but it’s proven historically that most of the time they always ended up with a hard one. 

Will we see a Volcker shock? ​

​

- Interest rates shot to 20% ( Imagine your mortgage ) ​
- 2 Recessions Followed​
- Stocks & Real Estate Fell ​
​
​
Sounds scary? But at the end of the day, inflation was brought down to 3.2%.​

What happened ?​
A great wealth transfer.​
​
​
We’re quite similar to that period of time. There’s War , Supply chain disruptions, and recession. ​

​
What should we all do?​
Stay employed, stay invested, dollar cost average, live below your means, have an emergency fund.

- Federal Reserve Rate Hikes "Coming Soon"​
- War, Perhaps? ( Will we see oil prices going from 90+ to 100++ ? )​
- Consumer sentiment data came in low. ​
- Tech Correction ​
- Covid "Who Cares" ​

The short term conflict ( hopefully, should settle in a few months ), but the increase in energy prices will add on to the longer term problems, More Inflation.​

Not sure about KL, but Penang's Batu Kawan, also known as the silicon valley of the east is definetly a tech cluster. Many of the companies in / close by the vicinity plays a significant role in the global tech & semiconductor supply chain. Pentamaster, Inari, Greatech, Vitrox, MI, Aemulus to name a few.​

We are also seeing large investments inflow into Penang, such as South Korea's Simmtech's with an 507 Million investment.​

China have been importing 300 billion USD worth of chips, and is aiming to realize a chipset self-sufficiency rate of 70 percent by 2025. We should be expecting an exponential growth in some of these sectors, as they are well positioned for China's semiconductor boom. Some great news for Malaysia.
