From January to August 2025, Malaysia recorded the highest number of international tourist arrivals in Southeast Asia, welcoming 28.24 million visitors, according to Seasia.stats. Its strong performance reaffirms Malaysia’s status as a top travel destination in the region, driven by diverse attractions ranging from cultural heritage and natural beauty to modern cityscapes like Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Thailand follows closely in second place with 21.88 million arrivals, continuing its reputation as a global tourism hub known for its beaches, cuisine, and warm hospitality. Vietnam secures third with 13.9 million tourists, reflecting its rising popularity as travelers flock to destinations like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Ha Long Bay.
Meanwhile, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines round out the top six, with 11.6 million, 10.04 million, and 3.96 million visitors respectively. Singapore continues to attract business and leisure travelers alike, while Indonesia’s archipelago and Bali’s enduring appeal keep it among the region’s favorites. The Philippines, though smaller in total numbers, is poised for growth as it promotes its islands and ecotourism offerings to international markets.
