Most leaks in swimming pools occur through cracks on walls or floors. It is consider normal to lose some water through splashing and evaporation. But do you need to constantly add more than 3 inches of water to your pool every week?

1) Determine the groundwater table (if the swimming pool is on the ground). This is because leaking could occur either direction because if the groundwater table is low, then water from the swimming pool will tend to leak outside to even the water level. Vice versa. ๐

2) Mark the water level inside the swimming pool using a tape. If the water level drops significantly then it is clear that there is a leaking. ๐

3) Check for cracks on the walls and floors of the swimming pool. Water tends to seep out through the cracks. Hence, affecting the ceiling below (if the swimming pool is not on the ground) or the surrounding. Normally, cracks will happen on the joints. Put colour dye on the suspected crack areas. ๐

4) Check for water marks or water dripping on the ceiling below. Treatment needs to be done depending on the problem. ๐
