The Dusun

The Dusun Berembun Resort Sdn Bhd (1123792-M) A little piece of Paradise tucked in the hills of Negeri Sembilan.
(800)

The Dusun is seven self-catering, socially-conscious, eco-bungalows on a durian orchard. In 1984, our family began planting trees on this 12-acre lot. We now have huge trees, 2 forest walks, 6 bungalows, 2 pools, deer, chickens, fish and vegetables when the elements cooperate. The Dusun is designed after our family lifestyle of privacy, long talks, cooking up storms, beautiful views from open-conc

ept houses and watching and listening to nature. It is the perfect place to spend quiet quality time with loved ones or by yourself. There is wifi in a common area sometimes and no TV in any of our bungalows. It is suitable for those looking for an off-grid nature experience. With bungalows on the top of a hill and wind off the forest reserve, we enjoy cooler temperatures at night. Each house has a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor barbecue. We are committed to low-impact resort operations, hiring locally, supporting the community, composting, phosphate-free products, organic farming and air-cond free houses. We continue to nurture and sculpt our little piece of paradise with more forest walks, plants and animals.

Which spot would you choose for your morning coffee?

Each house at The Dusun offers its own unique perspective on the surrounding rainforest—some gazing across valleys to distant mountains, others nestled intimately amongst fruit trees and flowering plants.

Because we are a low-density resort, mornings here unfold in blissful privacy.

Studies show just 120 minutes in nature weekly significantly improves health and wellbeing.

Save this for simple ways to bring more nature into your life.

1. Morning Light Ritual
Step outside within the first hour of waking. Morning light regulates your circadian rhythm whilst birdsong offers a gentler start than notifications.

2. Barefoot Moments
Spend 10 minutes daily with bare feet on natural ground. This "earthing" reduces inflammation and improves sleep quality.

3. Mindful Observation
Choose one natural element—a leaf, flower, or cloud—and study it for five minutes. Notice textures and patterns you'd otherwise miss.

4. Forest Breathing
Forest air contains phytoncides, natural compounds that boost immune function. Take three deliberate breaths whenever you enter green spaces.

5. Nature Journaling
Record natural observations—bird sightings, foliage changes, weather patterns. This deepens your relationship with your environment.

6. Digital Sunsets
Put devices away at sunset and tune into natural rhythms instead. The transition from day to night becomes meditation without digital distraction.

Nature connection isn't about dramatic wilderness adventures—it's about consistent, mindful engagement with the living world around you.

At The Dusun, your "room" extends far beyond four walls. It includes winding paths through fruit orchards, hidden benches perfect for afternoon reading, and ancient trees that have witnessed decades of quiet moments.

Here, nature isn't something you visit, it's something you inhabit. The soundtrack is birdsong and distant waterfalls. The scent is wild jasmine and earth after rain. This is what we offer: not an escape from life, but a return to it, in its most essential, unhurried form.

5 Sustainable Habits for A Greener Travel

1. Pack a Reusable Water Bottle
The Malaysian heat makes staying hydrated essential. At The Dusun, we provide filtered water stations throughout our grounds, making refills simple and convenient. One reusable bottle can prevent dozens of plastic bottles from entering landfills during a single holiday.

2. Choose Eco-Friendly Toiletries
Many conventional shampoos, soaps and sunscreens contain chemicals harmful to water systems and coral reefs. Opt for biodegradable, water-safe alternatives without microplastics or harsh preservatives. At The Dusun, we provide handcrafted, plastic-free amenities from Kinder Soaps in Kuala Lumpur, but bringing your own eco-friendly products ensures sustainability throughout your journey.

3. Embrace Local, Seasonal Cuisine
Food that travels less creates a smaller carbon footprint. When staying with us, preorder meals crafted from our local restaurant partner When dining elsewhere, choose dishes featuring seasonal Malaysian produce rather than imported ingredients. This not only reduces environmental impact but also provides a more authentic cultural experience.

4. Consider Slower Travel
Rather than rushing between multiple destinations, consider spending more time in fewer places. This reduces transportation emissions and allows for deeper connections with local communities and environments. The Dusun was designed for lingering—whether walking mindfully through our fruit orchards or spending an extra day simply observing the rich biodiversity around you.

5. Support Genuinely Sustainable Businesses
Look beyond marketing claims and support accommodations and experiences with authentic ecological practices. True sustainability involves respecting both environment and culture—like how we’ve always designed our structures to fit the landscape rather than reshaping the land to suit our buildings.

Remember, sustainable travel isn’t about perfection—it’s about making thoughtful choices that collectively create meaningful change.

In a world that never stops buzzing, silence has become our most precious luxury.

Studies show that extended periods without digital noise can reduce cortisol levels and improve cognitive function - yet most urbanites in KL spend less than 30 minutes in true quiet each day.

Just over an hour from Kuala Lumpur’s constant hum, The Dusun offers something increasingly rare: genuine silence. Here, the only soundtrack is nature’s gentle rhythm- birdsong at dawn, cicadas at dusk, and the soft rustle of wind through the rainforest canopy.

This isn’t emptiness, but rather silence full of life. The kind that creates space for thoughts to untangle and creativity to resurface.

Between the grand adventures and milestone moments, life’s true magic often hides in plain sight.

We invite you to pause and consider: perhaps joy isn’t found in grand gestures but in learning to see the extraordinary in the everyday.

No alarms needed here.

Just soft morning light filtering through the trees, crisp linens inviting you to linger a little longer, and absolutely nowhere you need to be.

This is slow living at The Dusun - where time bends to your rhythm, not the other way around. Leave your to-do list at home. Your only job here is to remember what rest actually feels like.

Come remember what unhurried feels like.
