Magma Group Bhd is acquiring a 2.26-acre land in Kuala Lumpur’s Persiaran Dutamas area from Skyload Express Sdn Bhd, a company connected to its executive chairman Datuk Seri Lee Hock Seng, for RM80 million. The land is approved for mixed-use development, including serviced apartments and commercial spaces.

The acquisition involves a related-party transaction as Hock Seng owns 44% of Skyload, while former badminton player Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei holds 45%. Magma will fund the deal with RM8 million in cash and the issuance of new shares and redeemable preference shares (RPS).

Post-acquisition, Hock Seng’s stake in Magma will increase to 28.35%, while Chong Wei will gain a 14.37% stake. Magma also plans to undertake a capital reduction of RM379.21 million to offset accumulated losses, aiming to strengthen its balance sheet and support future growth.

The company’s managing director, Datuk Seri Thomas Liang, highlighted that the acquisition aligns with Magma’s long-term strategy in property development and hospitality.
