If you’d told me a decade ago that I would be the owner of a real estate agency at this stage of my life – I might not have believed you!
Years back, I studied human rights law. When I look back on it now, I find this a little amusing, because a lot of human rights work is “pro bono”, or without compensation (Today, I educate my teams on the art of sales and negotiation, which is quite the opposite!).
A major turning point for me was when I began work at a London bank (Santander) – I began discovering the art of sales, with my sights set on the real estate industry. In 2013, hungry for mentorship, I connected with one of the finest real estate providers around, Rose Wong who taught me everything she knew about the field.
This jump-started my career as a real estate negotiator. Two years later, using the skills, knowledge and training I’d acquired (along with my partners Ng Cin and Dato Chua) I founded Profere Property, a firm dedicated to providing efficacious and transparent property management services. In its 7 years in operation, we managed to close the largest residential deal in the Klang Valley.
In 2020, ESP Global Services was launched, despite the trials wrought by the Covid-19 pandemic. The brainchild of myself, Aldrin Tan, and Dato’ Adrian Wang, our aim was to create a widely-accessible and all-encompassing online platform that would service the needs of the entire real estate community. To date, we have been able to mentor 16 business owners under the ESP umbrella, with more to come!
Several partnerships, opportunities, and milestones later, I have been truly humbled by the success our firms have achieved. On a personal note, to be able to do what I love each and every day, and empower others along the same path, brings a lot of meaning to what I do.
10 years and many learning curves later - I wouldn’t do a thing different!
