A week ago today, I officially launched my real estate brokerage brand, McAlex Realty Connect, and I have never been more grateful.
There is a special joy that comes from seeing something you're building in its infancy and watching it slowly, but surely, begin to grow. It is difficult to compare that feeling to anything else.
Of course, it has also been a week of work. Learning about real estate and real estate services suddenly became very real to me. I began to rediscover myself in this space, but this time as someone far more intentional. New knowledge, new perspectives, and new ways of doing things became real to me too.
I cannot be thankful enough to those who have taken the time to write books, share their experiences, and personally reach out to guide me on this journey.
I initially did not realize how much work goes into building something like this. I used to think, "It's land. People know it appreciates, and if it appreciates, then it's worth the investment. If it's worth the investment, then people should naturally want to buy."
Alas, I was naive.
I have come to understand that people do not just buy, nor do they readily part with their money, even for something as rewarding as real estate. Trust must be built. Value must be communicated. Relationships must be nurtured.
Beyond this realization, new paths have been revealed to me—paths that will better drive the establishment and growth of this company. Work on those paths has already begun.
Looking back, it seemed as though I was ready. And truly, I was. But as I mentioned in my launch speech, you cannot make every preparation for a child while it is still in the womb. Some preparations can only be made after the child has been born.
In the coming weeks, beyond listings, I will be rolling out initiatives born out of this post-natal education and experience.
To everyone who took the time to celebrate with me last week, thank you. One of the goals of this company is to ensure that every willing person interested in real estate can be onboarded and guided properly.
This is not a coming out with a bang. It is a growth journey—one in which we can all learn, grow together, and build investments and legacies that will stand the test of time.
