This is the first post in a new series I’m calling Conversations That Changed My Thinking, where I share lessons from real conversations with investors and decision-makers.
Last week, I had a conversation that stayed with me long after the meeting ended.
I asked a senior military officer what he usually looks for before investing in property.
Without hesitation, he said:
“I’m not looking for prestige. I look out for properties gives me returns in many ways” and he went on to list everything that defines value for him.
That one sentence reminded me that experienced investors often see property differently.
They’re thinking about preserving wealth, creating opportunities for their children, and owning assets that can serve them in the future.
It also reminded me that my job isn’t to convince people to buy property.
My job is to understand what they’re trying to achieve, then help them make the right decision.
Every meeting teaches me something.
This one reminded me to listen a little more and assume a little less.
