Anambra, Kogi and some other parts of Nigeria🇳🇬 are facing one of the worst and worsening flood incidence in years. The water overflow is a consequence of heavy precipitations, release of water from Nigeria & Cameroon dams and bad housing regulation. Over 651,000 persons are displaced in Anambra state. Lives and properties have been lost too
The solution might have been more attention to:
🚩Dredging and Channelization of Inland Waterways;
🚩Creation of artificial reserviors (lakes);
🚩Building smaller dams along major distributaries to mitig*te against flooding risks and to aid irrig*tion;
🚩Building regulations to avoid river-bank constructions;
🚩Better meteroligical research and predictive analytics; and
🚩Timely dissemination of information.
