Africa's Foremost Business Educator, Strive Masiyiwa speaks, I urge to listen. His insights are acute and uncanny.
Happy New Year to you all
__If not now, then when? Join me!
I know the last three years have been remarkably difficult for many of you, and your businesses; you will recall I warned that the pandemic would create some quite extraordinary difficulties, apart from the tragic loss of life. And this has turned out to be true for a lot of entrepreneurs.
Someone once said, “If it does not kill you, it will make you stronger”—so, the very fact that you are reading this, means you are not only alive, but you are stronger, and ready to tackle whatever is thrown at you.
As a Believer, I have also learnt to make the distinction in life between Joy and Happiness. Joy is something that comes out of the Spirit, and is never influenced by circumstances. Whereas Happiness is a response to an external stimulus, and circumstances.
It is always best to go for Joy, because when you allow it to bubble through from your spirit, you experience true satisfaction that goes beyond happiness.
Meanwhile I’m sure by now you have all seen the video of my short speech at the recently concluded US Africa Summit which took place in December. If you haven't seen it, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t3UR2IA81A
I’m on a new mission now to help Africa secure $100bn in investment for infrastructure that supports agricultural productivity, distribution, and market access...
I want to see billions of dollars go into projects like railways that traverse the African continent, irrigation systems that help smallholder farmers, renewable energy mini grids that improve life in rural Africa, storage facilities that ensure our farmers don’t lose 40% of their produce before even getting to market. And fair market access for our agricultural produce -- locally, continentally, and globally.
“If not now, then when? And if not us, then who will do it?”
Join me!
And keep an eye out as I begin this next chapter for our beloved mother continent.
Finally, I also gave an interview last year to an international magazine called "Lifestyles", and I think you will enjoy this retelling of my journey so far. You can find it here: https://lifestylesmagazine.com/tag/issue-303/
If you can't manage to open it, I'll try to find a way you can access it later on.
Now as we get started into this New Year, please tell me how you are and what you're up to in your own entrepreneurial journeys. I will read all your comments.
The only way you will learn from what I have to say is to go back to what I've already said to you [personally] in what I said previously here on this platform since 2013.
May God keep you safe, and full of joy. You know I love you already.
