THINGS TO DO IMMEDIATELY AFTER BUYING LAND

You’ve paid, collected documents, even snapped picture on the land. Now what?

1. Do a Deed of Assignment – It transfers ownership to you legally. Don't skip it.

2. Register your land – At the Land Registry. If it’s not registered, the law may not protect you.

3. Get your own survey done – Even if the seller shows you theirs. Be sure what you paid for.

4. Fence it, or at least mark it – That bush is someone else’s goldmine if left open.

5. Keep all your documents safe – Scan copies and keep originals secure. No go dey look for "photocopy" in 10 years.

Let us read and learn

This is a Survey plan that was done in 2017. The place is fully developed now. However, the client cannot find his vacant plot.

What happened? The numbers and alphabet you are seeing there are all forged. They do not represent the Land’s actual data. So, retrieving the plot is almost zero.

I learned the client paid 15K for the survey at a time when survey price was 85K.

Land around this area cost 2m then. So, who loss, the surveyor or the landlord?

You don’t have to go for lower price in everything.

Surveying or building construction are expensive projects that you should entrust with a reputable and professional people.

And of course, they will demand for equivalent value since they are offering you unique and valuable services.
