Lekki is underwater again — and it's been two brutal weeks. 🌧️
Torrential rains since late June have left large parts of the Lekki corridor flooded — from Lekki Phase 1, Osapa London, Agungi, and Chevron to Ikota and parts of Ajah. Homes have been submerged, cars abandoned in rising water, and commuters stranded for hours, with the July 13 downpour described as one of the heaviest in recent memory.
Governor Sanwo-Olu visited the flood-hit communities on July 15, calling the destruction alarming. The state has ordered drainage interventions, the removal of structures blocking waterways in the Lekki-Epe axis, and a review of Lekki's master plan.
But for residents, the question remains: how many more rainy seasons before the solutions actually hold?
Stay safe out there. Move valuables to higher ground when the clouds gather, and avoid driving through flooded roads.
