🌍 From a Missed Opportunity to a Million-Dollar Lesson: My Real Estate Journey 🏡
I still remember the day like it was yesterday.
In 2004, my husband and I were offered a piece of land in our area precisely Amuwo Odofin for ₦850,000. The brother who wanted us to buy was from our church. He kept calling and encouraging us.
We decided to go and see it. To our amazement, we had to climb on constructed planks to get to the land because of water.
I got offended and told my husband that we should go back.
Our church brother said, and I remember:
“This place will blow up in a few years,”
But like many people, we hesitated. I was skeptical. “It’s too flooded” I told myself. “There’s nothing there yet.”
Fast forward to today — that same location is selling for more than ₦200 million per plot.
I drive past that estate now, fully developed, gated, with beautiful homes and tarred roads… and I just smile.
Not because I bought it then — but because that missed opportunity became my turning point.
That’s when I made a decision:
I wasn’t going to guess about real estate anymore. I was going to study the market, understand the data, and learn about locations, titles, developers, etc and how timing can change everything.
I’ve since worked with so many clients, helped families secure properties they thought were out of reach, and educated everyday people on how to turn land into wealth.
