Today, as we celebrate World Children's Day, we urge leaders from all walks of life - governments, businesses, religions, and thought leaders - to take a moment to reflect on the impact of our actions on our children, both now and in the future.
As Louis Pasteur so eloquently puts it, "When I approach a child, he inspires in me two sentiments - tenderness for what he is and respect for what he may become."
Nelson Mandela also reminded us that "safety and security don't just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable members of our society, a life free from violence and fear.”
As Whitney Houston sang, "...the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride to make it easier. Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be."
Let us praise the children around us, play with them, walk with them, and most importantly, plan for their future with all our hearts.
Happy Children's Day Celebration
