THE BUSINESS OF THE STRONG
Real estate is the business of the strong,
By the strong,
And for the strong.
If your head is not strong,
You’ll break down.
Because this game is not played on paper alone.
It is played under hot sun,
Inside dusty roads,
On empty stomachs,
With fake smiles from clients
Who promise heaven today
And disappear tomorrow.
This is the land where developers build with pain.
Forest of frustration
Where cement wakes up with a new price every morning.
Where diesel rises like smoke from broken dreams.
Where iron rods behave like gold,
And blocks are counted like diamonds.
In Nigeria, a developer is not just a builder.
He is a fighter.
An economist.
A negotiator.
A survivor.
He battles government policies that change overnight.
Battles multiple taxation.
Battles insecurity.
Battles land grabbers, fake agents, and endless documentation.
Battles banks that fear to lend,
Yet expect miracles.
Battles unsatisfied clients.
Battles non understanding realtors who side the clients and attack the very company that empowered them.
Battles mean staff who careless of your
Many sacrifices
Trying to figure how to raise funds
To pay salaries and run operations
And keep the business going.
He carries workers on his shoulders,
Feeds families he may never know,
Creates jobs in silence,
While people online ask:
“Why is housing expensive?”
They do not see the sleepless nights.
The loans.
The pressure.
The betrayal from trusted partners.
The projects hanging between faith and bankruptcy.
Many have smiled outside
While dying inside unfinished buildings.
Yet every morning,
The strong rise again.
They inspect sites with tired eyes.
Answer impossible calls.
Convince frightened investors.
And continue building cities
Inside a country that keeps testing their spirit.
Because real estate is not for the weak-hearted.
This industry can humble pride,
Drain strength,
And expose fear.
But for the few who endure—
The disciplined,
The relentless,
The stubborn believers—
They become creators of legacy.
Builders of wealth.
Shapers of future
Makers of generational change.
So before you enter this business,
Ask yourself:
Can your mind survive pressure?
Can your heart survive delay?
Can your vision survive Nigeria?
Because real estate is the business of the strong,
By the strong,
And for the strong.
If your head is not strong…
You’ll breakdown
If you can’t stand the heat,
Leave the kitchen.
