DON'T BE LIKE MR GABRIEL

He told the realtor he will be paying the next day, He forgot. After a week, he called to initiate the transfer and he was shocked to hear the estate was sold out.

Lesson 2: "The Land you inspected yesterday and planning to pay today is the same land someone inspected yesterday planning to pay today.
He ended up buying a property nearby for 2m/plot against the 1.5m.

Don't be Mr Gabriel.

Lekki Free Zone: An Industrial Paradise - Commissioner

The Lekki Free Zone (LFZ) has been described as an Industrial Paradise where companies can operate freely without any hitch because it is equipped with all necessary facilities for optimal operation with a good ambience for investment.

The Lagos State Commissioner for the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye stated this at the ongoing 2017 Ministerial Press Briefing in commemoration of the second year in Office of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and the 50years anniversary of Lagos State.

The Commissioner maintained that the LFZ is a landmark industrial project of the State government and a testament to the undying resolve of the present administration to ensure sustainable industrialisation that would translate into improved job and wealth creation as well as economic growth through the attraction of local and foreign direct investment.

Commenting on the veracity, sustainability of the project and government’s commitment to it, the Commissioner disclosed that the State has 40% equity funding in partnership with its Chinese counterpart, the China-Africa Lekki Investment Limited who has 60% equity funding, adding that the State is making payment in installments and is up to date in payment.

In addition, he said it is the most successful Free Zone in Nigeria with over 4billion dollars in foreign and local investment alone apart from the Dangote investment in Petro-Chemical, refineries and allied products with over 650 thousand barrels per day which is more than the capacity of the four refineries in the country and estimated at over 11billion dollars in value.

Ogunleye further noted that 116 investors have registered with LFZ out of which 16 have commenced full operations while some factories are currently under construction and a hundred investors also signifying their intention to register and situate their business within the zone.

*_Dangote Refinery Begins Installation Of Refinery Equipment After Completion Of Sand Filing Of The Swampy Land Mass_*

Dangote Oil Refining Company (DORC) Limited has said the installation of equipment for the crude oil refinery being built in Lekki-Lagos will begin this month.

The Head, Quality Assurance/Quality Compliance and Construction, DORC, Mr. Rama Putta, said, that the 650,000-barrels-per-day refinery would come on stream in 2019.

He said the sand filling of the site was completed six months ago, adding that 60 per cent of the land was swampy.

Putta said bringing the land to 3 metres above the mean sea level was the biggest challenge, adding, “The sand is tightly compacted and ready for the er****on of the equipment. No flood can affect our area. The surrounding area is only one metre above the mean sea level. The entire Lagos is only 1.5 metres above the main sea level.

“We dredged sand from the Atlantic Ocean, about 60 million cubic metres. The world’s biggest dredgers dredged the sand for about 18 months. It’s a big job and is completed successfully. Now, what is left is to erect the refinery equipments.”

PUNCH correspondent was taken round the site to see some of the materials, including steel, plates and cranes, which were brought in for the construction of the refinery.

Putta stated, “We need a lot of big cranes. All the equipment are going to come horizontally; they are to be put vertically. That is why to lift them, we need cranes. We need 300 cranes; 250 cranes are already here. The remaining cranes are coming from China."

“We will start erecting the refinery equipment in a week or 10 days’ time, and it will take about 15 months.”

According to him, about 3,000 pieces of equipment are required for the refinery.

He noted, “Out of that, more than 200 have already come in. They come in semi-finished shape and we will finish them off. The remaining are being manufactured in various countries, including China, India, America.

Ambode To Pump $60m Into Lekki Free Zone Project

Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday, said about $60million would be pumped into the ongoing development of the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) within the next six months.

The governor, who spoke when he met with stakeholders at the Zone, assured that he remains committed to addressing the challenges and ensuring the project is actualised.

“I want to assure that our financial commitment to LFTZ will be improved in 2017, that is, we will accelerate to quickly clear our outstanding counterpart funding for the Zone.

“In essence, we expect that in the next six month, we should be having an investment of over $60 million. I believe that when we invest our share of the fund and China Africa Lekki Investment Limited (CALIL) does, it will bring a major development for the Zone,” he said.

The governor said that putting the fund at the Zone at a time when Nigeria was gradually easing its way out of recession would not only improve infrastructure and boost development, but will also help attract more investors to the Zone.

He said over $6billion has been invested in the LFTZ in the last few years, with Dangote Group providing a lion share of about $4billion.

Ambode said: “Over $6 billion has been invested in the Zone in the last few years with Dangote share in the lump sum at $4 billion and we have a land space of over 16,000 hectares of which, just a portion of it is activated.

“We are all aware of the investments by Dangote Group and the China Africa Lekki Investment Limited (CALIL), had done as it concerns the partnership they signed with the Lagos State Government. And this partnership made the company own 60 percent while Lagos owns 40 percent.”

Ambode also assured that work would commence on the Lekki Deep Sea Port next month, saying that it was also a critical infrastructure that would attract more investors into the Zone and ensure return on investment.
