Cemetery Attendant Wants Funsho Williams Murder Case Retried by HzRF(m): 1:24am
A cemetery attendant, Bashir Junaid, has applied to a Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking an order re-opening investigations into the murder of a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Funsho Williams.

Williams was murdered on July 27, 2006 at his Dolphine Estate residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Junaid was one of the persons detained by the police while conducting preliminary investigations into the crime.

He filed the new suit seeking an order of mandamus compelling the Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, to re-open investigations into how the late PDP stalwart was murdered in cold blood.

The suit is before Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia.

Listed as respondents are the Inspector-General of Police, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero (former IGP and Investigating Police Officer in Funsho Williams’ murder case); Attorney-General of the Federation; the PDP and Mrs.Modupe Shasore.

Also listed were a former Governor of Lagos State, Mr.Bola Tinubu; Dr.Muiz Banire; Mr.Babatunde Edu; Mr. Dele Alake and Oladele Ajomale.

When the matter came up on Thursday, lawyer to the plaintiff, Tunji Adesheye, moved an ex-parte application for substituted service and service of the writ of summons on some of the defendants outside jurisdiction.

The order was granted as prayed by Ofili-Ajumogobia, who later adjourned the matter to April 29 for hearing.

In the suit, Junaid cited Tinubu as a prime suspect.

The plaintiff is also praying the court to compel the Attorney-General of the Federation to direct the appropriate organ in the Criminal Justice Administration in Nigeria to commence prosecution of the alleged suspects.

The plaintiff is asking for a claim for compensatory and exemplary damages of N5bn against the 11 defendants for their actions or inaction over his alleged illegal detention and psychological trauma.

In a 48-point statement of claim in support of the suit, Junaid averred that due to the influence of Tinubu and Banire and the compromising position of the investigators at the Federal Central Investigations Department, Alagbon, Banire was only cautioned and made to rewrite another statement to the police, while his own freely confessed statement which could have assisted the Police in its attempt to unravel the actual killers of Williams, with the concrete and implicating evidence , was discarded by the Police at Alagbon Close, Lagos..

Shekau’s Allegiance To ISIS Changes Nothing – Nigerian Army by Truepee(m): 6:23am

The Nigerian Army on Sunday said allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria by the wanted leader of the Boko Haram insurgents, Abubakar Shekau, could not safe him.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, in an interview on the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation monitored in Maiduguri, said the entire nation, especially citizens living in the troubled North-East zone, needed not to be afraid that Shekau’s allegiance to the ISIS terrorist group would mean a renewed reign of terror.

Usman said the military was in control of the situation in the North-East.

Shekau’s allegiance to ISIS was contained in an audio clip posted on his Twitter account on Saturday.

“With or without allegiance to ISIS, the days of Shekau has already been numbered, because all the insurgents’ training camps and hideouts in the affected North-East have been destroyed, while the terrorists have been routed from their camps and hideouts; and those who have escaped our “condone and search operations” in the Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad Basin Areas, are on the run, abandoning their operational vehicles, arms and ammunitions,” Usman said.

He said that the Boko Haram’s allegiance to ISIS was meant to cause more “fears and terror” among Nigerian citizens, because the modus operandi of insurgents, are also similar to the Islamic fundamentalists in some Middle East countries.”

“Shekau’s public allegiance to IS clearly indicates that he may surrender or be killed in the ongoing joint military operations of Nigeria and three neighbouring countries of Chad, Cameroon and Niger,” Usman said.

Meanwhile, a security expert, Max Gbanite, has described the allegiance by Boko Haram to the ISIS as a sign of desperation and an indication that the deadly sect is in the throes of death.

Gbanite, in a telephone interview from the United States on Sunday, said that Boko Haram’s call to ISIS was an attempt to lure northern youths from affluent homes schooling in Malaysia and other places into its fold.

He noted that the deadly sect was seeking for recognition by ISIS because it had lost credibility with Al-Qaeda, which condemned it for abducting the Chibok schoolgirls in April, 2014.

Gbanite said, “Their (Boko Haram) pledge is a desperate attempt to be recognised by ISIS and to entice young northern Nigerians from affluent homes like Ibrahim Uwais and the young Abdulmutallab and others schooling in Malaysia into their fold.

“Already, they have foreign boots from Central African Republic, Chad, Niger and Mali. Federal Government must continue to pound and pound until they are annihilated.”

HELP!!! Is There Anything I Can Sue MTN For? by neutrotoba(m): 2:43pm On Feb 16

I've been a faithful MTN subscriber since 2007 (8years and counting). MTN was my first love. I didn't for once step out to try any other network (started using Glo for browsing recently though).

I've endured the years of outrageous tariff, deduction of credit for callertunez which I never subscribed for, inconsistent signal. And then when other mobile networks gave out bonus at will to their customers, if MTN gives you anything for free, call them and beg them to take it back, because my brother/sister, you are not safe.. they would take it back in a hundred folds. I endured all that.

However, that's the limit. One thing I will never endure is the unsolicited messages that roll into my phone on a daily basis, there are days I get 41. undecided don't look at me like that it's the truth. One time last year, I called them to complain about it, the agent that I spoke to apologised like she meant it, asked me to dictate the numbers that sends me the messages (I did, though it was stressful), she told me most of the messages where not from them and they were authorised by NCC or blah blah blah. I believed her (dumb me... I don't get such messages on my Glo sim) she promised i'd not receive them again.

Before I dropped that call, I had already received SIX messages, and it has been like that since then, the messages multiply each day (For christ's sake, God was talking to Adam and Eve, not to these devilish messages).

Well, I called them again today and threatened to sue them, then I realised I don't even know what i'd sue them for, (mobile nuisance or something?) I don't know.

LAWYERS IN HERE, PLEASE HELP!!!

UPDATE : 17 dead, 27 injured in Yobe bus blast – Witnesses, rescuers

At least 17 people were killed on Tuesday when a blast ripped through a bus in Potiskum, northeast Nigeria, witnesses and rescue workers said, in the latest violence to hit the troubled region.

The explosion happened at the Tashar Dan-Borno motor park on the outskirts of the city immediately after a man put a bag in the boot of the bus and then tried to board.

“The bus had just loaded with passengers on its way to Kano when a huge explosion happened inside the bus at exactly 11:40 am (1040 GMT),” said a driver’s union official at the bus station.

Potiskum, the commercial capital of Yobe state, has been hit repeatedly by bombings, including on Sunday, when a young girl with explosives strapped to her body blew up at a crowded market.

Thirteen dead and 31 injured were initially brought to Potiskum General Hospital after Tuesday’s blast, according to a nurse at the facility, but she added: “Four more died here.

“So, we have 17 dead and 27 people with injuries.”
The drivers’ union official said it was not immediately clear whether the man who placed the bag in the boot was a su***de bomber or whether the explosives were hidden inside it.

– ‘Bus engulfed in flames’ –

Rescue workers at the scene said that all 12 people on board the bus were killed.

The girl in Sunday’s attack which left seven people dead in Potiskum was thought to be as young as seven, according to multiple witnesses.
Boko Haram Islamists have increasingly used young girls and women as human bombs, with so-called “soft targets” such as markets and bus stations hit regularly.
Both bombings again underlined the severe security challenges facing Nigeria in the run-up to presidential and parliamentary elections on March 28.
The elections were initially scheduled for February 14 but were delayed by six weeks to give the military and its allies more time to secure and stabilise the northeast to allow people to vote.
Waziri Danu, who lives in the area, said of the latest bombing: “I was at a car wash nearby when I heard a huge explosion and saw volleys of fire and smoke coming from the motor park.
“I and people around rushed to the place and we saw a bus engulfed in flames… It is not likely if anyone in the vehicle has survived.”
Another driver, who also asked not to be identified, said: “We were taking turns to load when this man came. He appeared to be in a hurry.
“He asked if the bus was going to Kano. I said yes. But before he could be screened he dropped his bag in the boot among other luggage and just made to enter the bus.
“Some people tried to restrain him for the screening but then there was an explosion.”
