From 2,000 Calls a Day to Near Silence — Late Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s Son Reflects on Life After Power Transition

Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has shared his insights on the significant changes he experienced after his father relinquished power.

He recounted that when former President Goodluck Jonathan extended congratulations to his father on winning the presidency, his phone began ringing incessantly.

At one point, he received approximately 2,000 calls daily, starting as early as 4 a.m. Callers comprised old classmates, relatives, former staff, and acquaintances of the Buhari family.

Many calls lacked clear motivations, prompting his assistant to politely terminate them.

Following his father’s transfer of power to President Bola Tinubu, the number of calls decreased to around 100 per day. After his father’s burial, the frequency of calls further declined to roughly 20 per day, primarily from siblings and business associates.

Yusuf noted that his phone now rarely rings, indicating that most individuals maintain relationships based on influence or power.

A Model of Partnership Excellence: Lessons from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The President and The First Lady. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu offer a compelling lesson in the value of strategic partnership. At a time when many relegated wives to domestic roles and stigmatized religious harmony, the Tinubus pursued a different path. They invested in capacity development and relevance, understanding that partnership is a vital asset, not merely symbolic. Today, those who underestimated this vision are left to regret their misjudgment. We must study leaders, including those we may not envy, as this is how societies learn and progress. We avoid flawed strategies, replicate effective ones, and pass wisdom to future generations. Congratulations to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu on their recognition during President Trump’s prayer meeting, a powerful testament to the effectiveness of leadership partnerships. This was diplomacy executed with dignity, synergy, and foresight, deserving of commendation. Congratulations, Nigeria, on confidently engaging with a key player in the emerging global geopolitical order. Wisdom dictates that we avoid missteps that could jeopardize this evolving relationship.
Thank you, President Trump.

Senegal's 🇸🇳 head coach, Pape Thiaw, has appealed to the people of Senegal to refrain from contributing financially to help settle his fine, instead suggesting that they redirect those funds to individuals who genuinely require support. Pape Thiaw, responding to the fundraiser initiated in his name, stated: "People of Senegal, my family, your solidarity since the announcement of the sanctions has deeply touched me. Thank you for the love you display towards me daily. However, I humbly request that you refrain from organizing fundraisers in my name. While I understand and appreciate this generous gesture, I invite you to redirect these funds to more pressing causes, for the benefit of those who genuinely require them." A man with a golden heart ♥️
