A Legacy That Endures. A Life That Continues to Inspire.

Today, we honour the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Sir Mayor Emmanuel Olabiyitan Ogunlade (2 March 1944 – 19 June 2023)—Founder of OFC Surveyors & City Managers.

He was more than a Land Surveyor. He was a visionary who saw possibilities where others saw limitations, a mentor who shaped lives with patience and wisdom, and a gentleman whose integrity became the foundation upon which generations continue to build.

Sir Mayor believed that excellence was never accidental. He taught that it is always better to capture more data than required than to return to site because of inadequate information—a principle that continues to define our professional culture today.

His life reflected discipline, humility, professionalism, and respect for everyone regardless of status. Impeccably dressed, thoughtful in speech, and unwavering in character, he led by example and inspired through action.

From his years as Chief Surveyor at Ove Arup & Partners to establishing Ogunlade Foundations and Company in 1982—now OFC Surveyors & City Managers—his vision has grown into a thriving second-generation business committed to excellence.

Though he is no longer with us, his values continue to guide every project we undertake and every life we influence.

Forever remembered. Forever honoured.

“He built foundations that endure, values that inspire, and a legacy that lives on.”

During Rainy Season, it isn’t just “rain problems.”
They’re signs your land needs to be better understood.

This is where professional surveying makes the difference.
With detailed site assessments and accurate geospatial data, we map: Elevation changes • Drainage patterns • Slopes • Erosion risk zones

So engineers and developers can make decisions before the damage happens.
Not after.

The best time to understand your land is before the rain does it for you.

This rainy season, don’t just watch the rain.
Learn what it’s revealing about your property. ☔

The ground is measured. The work is human.

Today, we celebrate the people behind every coordinate, every boundary, and every successful project.

From the field teams under the sun to the minds planning and analyzing the data, progress happens because people show up, stay committed, and do the work with precision.

Surveying is not just about land.
It is about dedication, resilience, and the effort it takes to build something that lasts.

To every professional shaping the built environment, your work matters more than it is often seen.

Happy Workers’ Day to those who keep things moving, measured, and built right.

In this game, the king is the one with the right data.

Every move in construction depends on one thing, clarity.

That is where as-built surveys come in.
They reveal what is truly on ground, not what was assumed.

No guesswork.
No blind spots.
Just precise, verified information.

Because when you know your position, you play the game better.
Because in this game, the wrong move is expensive.

Own your data. Own your decisions.

On Saturday, as the world marked the International Day of Education, a moment from last year came back to mind.

Our team at OFC Surveyors and City Managers spent two days with LASU Architecture students in Epe, not just in a classroom, but on site.

We moved beyond drawings and theory.
We set up the theodolites in order to connect the Ancient and Modern operations
Worked with Total Stations.
Measured the land.
Observed the terrain.

And explained why accuracy on the ground matters long before any structure rises.

What stood out wasn’t just the equipment.

It was the questions.
The curiosity.
The moment when theory finally made sense because it met practice.

That experience reminded us that education is the foundation of progress.

When professionals share real-world knowledge, we do more than teach skills.
We build confidence.
We shape careers.
We help shape the future of surveying and construction in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and across Africa.

Even after the day has passed, the responsibility remains.

How else can industry professionals show up to support education beyond the classroom?

We’d love to hear your thoughts. 💬
