I want to tell you something I have never written publicly before.

Three years ago I was broke, invisible, and starting to believe the lie that talent was not enough.

I had 5 years of networking experience.

I had certifications on my wall.

And I was earning less than a fresh graduate at a bank.

Not because I was not good enough.
Because nobody knew I existed.

My LinkedIn had 180 connections.
My profile said "Network Engineer" and nothing else.
I had no portfolio. No GitHub. No proof.
Just experience that lived entirely in my head and on servers I no longer had access to.

I remember sitting in traffic on Third Mainland Bridge one evening I think it was a Tuesday calculating in my head whether I could make rent if I did not get paid before the end of the month.

That calculation was the wake-up call.

Not the poverty itself. The fact that I was doing genuinely skilled work and still having that conversation with myself.

I updated my LinkedIn headline today.

It now says exactly what I do for two different audiences:

3 years ago I was "doing alright" as a network engineer in Lagos.

Decent job. Steady salary. No major problems.

But one night I asked myself a question that changed everything:
