Masonry Quality: Why Good Block Setting and Neatness Matter in Construction

Looking at a project like this, one of the first things any experienced eye checks is the blockwork (masonry). Before plastering, painting, or finishing, the true quality of a building is exposed at this stage. There is no hiding poor workmanship here.

What Good Block Setting Looks Like

From a well-executed site, you should observe:
1. Straight and true walls (no bending or bulging)
2. Uniform joint thickness (horizontal and vertical joints consistent)
3. Proper bonding pattern (staggered joints, not continuous vertical lines)
4. Accurate leveling across courses
5. Clean edges around openings (windows, doors, lintels)
6. Minimal mortar spillage

When these are done right, the building already looks “finished” even before plastering.
