By 1200 AD, over 35 Swahili city states had emerged, and spanned the Eastern coast of Africa, from Somalia, to Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique, and the islands of Comoros. This area was known to the Arabs as bilad al Zanj, to the Persians as Zanjibar, and the Chinese as Tsengtan, all meaning 'the land of the black people'. The people would be called 'Swahili' from the Arabic word 'Sawahil' meaning 'people of the coasts'. The name would also be used to name the area as the Swahili coast, and the language as Swahili. The Swahili language emerged in around 600 AD, as a trading language, and has thereby borrowed heavily from Persian, Arabic and Hindi in addition to the bantu languages that form the proto swahili language.

The richest man in China said, “If you put the
bananas and money in front of the monkeys, the monkeys will choose bananas because the monkeys don't know that money can buy a lot of bananas.

In fact, if you offer WORK and BUSINESS to people, they will choose to WORK because most people don't know that a BUSINESS can make more MONEY than a salary.

One of the reasons the poor are poor is because the poor are not trained to recognize the entrepreneurial opportunity.

They spend a lot of time in school and what they learn in school is to work for a salary instead of working for themselves.

Profit is better than wages because wages can support you, but profits can make you a fortune.

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE MEDIEVAL WALLS OF ZIMBABWE:

In around 1220, the medieval kingdom of Zimbabwe of the Shona people is established with its capital being Great Zimbabwe. This kingdom had gold trading links to Swahili city states further north on the East African coast.

At around the same time, the Mapungubwe settlement was abandoned for Zimbabwe.

Two centuries later, in around 1430, Prince Nyatsimba Mutota from the Great Zimbabwe travelled north to the Dande region in search of salt. He conquers a land that would become the Kingdom of Mutapa. Within a generation, Mutapa eclipsed Great Zimbabwe as the economic and political power in Zimbabwe.

By 1450, the kingdom of Zimbabwe including its capital, Great Zimbabwe, had been abandoned. The Kingdom of Mutapa carried on and even improved upon Zimbabwe's administrative structure, however, it did not carry on the stone-masonry tradition to the extent of its predecessor.

At the same time in 1450, The Kingdom of Butua is established. Butua was renowned as the source of gold for Arab and Portuguese traders. The kingdom was governed by the Torwa dynasty from its capital at Khami.

Ethiopian Architecture
The church of Biete Ghiogis, which is a part of the rock hewn churches of Lalibela, was constructed in the 1100s. The churches themselves date way back to the 7th century, but they are traditionally dated to the reign of king Lalibela, as he said that he'd construct the churches as a symbolic representation of Jerusalem, after it was destroyed in the 1180s.
