REPORT ON THE ONGOING YOUNG SURVEYORS NETWORK (YSN), NIGERIA RIVERS STATE BRANCH EVENT
The Young Surveyors Network, Nigeria Rivers State Branch, held its maiden edition of the Harvest of Ideas (HOI) 2025 on the 5th of November, 2025, at the Surveyors House, Obirikwere, Port Harcourt. The event marked a significant milestone in the professional development of young surveyors within the state and across Nigeria.
The conference, themed “Digital Transformation: Exploring Cutting-Edge Geospatial Technologies, Artificial Intelligence Integration, Prospects and Challenges,” brought together distinguished professionals, mentors, and young surveyors to discuss innovations shaping the surveying and geospatial industry.
The opening ceremony featured goodwill messages from the Surveyor General of Rivers State, the Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) Rivers State Branch, representatives of the Association of Private Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN), Women in Surveying (WIS), and members of the NIS Graduate and Student (NISGS) wings.
The sessions covered critical discussions on digital transformation in surveying practice, application of artificial intelligence in geospatial data management, and collaborative opportunities among professionals. The event also showcased practical demonstrations, networking opportunities, and mentorship engagements aimed at equipping young surveyors with modern skills for professional excellence.
The 2025 HOI conference has been widely commended for its vision, coordination, and relevance in preparing young professionals to meet emerging global standards in surveying and geospatial sciences.
