🚨 BIG CHANGES MAY BE COMING TO NIGERIA’S REAL ESTATE SECTOR! 🇳🇬🏡
The Federal Government has proposed a series of reforms that could transform the way real estate operates in Nigeria.
If implemented, these reforms could introduce:
✅ Mandatory licensing for property developers
✅ Escrow accounts to protect homebuyers’ funds
✅ Better construction quality assurance
✅ Stronger professional regulation
✅ Increased mortgage access through FMBN
✅ A higher mortgage limit of up to ₦85 million
✅ Access to up to 25% of RSA savings as equity for NHF contributors
✅ A National Rent Registry and improved tenancy regulations
✅ Better land administration through the Land4Growth Initiative and e-Certificate of Occupancy Programme
These proposals are aimed at making Nigeria’s real estate industry safer, more transparent, more accountable, and more investor-friendly while restoring confidence in the housing market.
As someone actively involved in the real estate industry, I believe these reforms have the potential to strengthen consumer protection and improve the overall experience for buyers, investors, developers, and other stakeholders. Their success, however, will depend on effective implementation and collaboration across the industry.
