DEATH OF A NIGERIAN BRIGADIER GENERAL
Brigadier General is trending because ISWAP Islamic terrorists captured and executed a serving Nigerian Army Brig.-Gen. M. Uba.
But NA claimed he returned home. Forcing ISWAP to publish photo evidence and literally call the NA, liars.
On Friday 15th Nov afternoon, Troops of 25 Task Force Brigade, were ambushed while returning from a routine patrol near Sambisa forest after a successful air-ground community operation.
Around Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa Borno, ISWAP fighters successfully ambushed their convoy led by BG M. Uba, with overwhelming fire that led to a gun fight and the death of 2 Soldiers and 2 CJTF and displacement of the Brig-General.
News broke that ISWAP had killed the commander. Nigerian Army hurriedly debunked the news, claiming BG commander M. Uba led his squad home.
Today, ISWAP released their own version of the story.
The jihadists claimed that, they indeed ambushed the Nigerian Army, defeated them and suppressing fire forced BG M. Uba to withdraw from the battle to hide and escape through the forest on Friday.
When they learnt he was the commander and had fled, immediately they mobilized and caught him on Saturday near one of the villages. Apparently, he couldnāt go far because he had a gunshot wound in his leg.
After capturing him, the terrorists interrogated and executed him on the spot. Yet the Nigerian Army and its Media published lies, despite its failed security. ā Paraphrasing ISWAP.
According to ISWAP, it wasnāt a targetted ambush. The ambush was open for any Nigerian Military. Unfortunately, BG Ubaās troops fell.
According to Zagazola, as at Friday when NA and FG claimed Uba was home. Uba was still hiding and communicating to base through WhatsApp, yeah, WhatsApp, sharing his live location for heli-evac.
He also made a video proof of life, before somehow the terrorists located him before the evac and executed him.
Also, Zagazola claims, he wasnāt captured, his squad tactically repelled the suppressing fire, regrouped and extricated from the ambush. And other soldiers have successfully returned to base.
However, ISWAP channel claims otherwise. And Nigerians see this as a big indictment on the government. The Nigerian Army, Presidency is yet to release any counter statement.
