Thinking about buying or renting a motorcycle in Nicaragua?

Here are a few things to know before hitting the road:

🏍️ Helmets are required by law.
🪪 Riders need a valid motorcycle license.
💵 Moto insurance costs approximately $35 USD per year. Yyc
🚦The current maximum speed limit for motorcycles is 40 kmph (on highways). Don't let the old speed limit signs fool you.

Whether you're zipping around town or venturing beyond the nearby beaches, a motorcycle is a fun and practical way to experience Nicaragua.

In fact, if you ask Gordon, he'll tell you it's hands down the best way to see the country. 😎

Meet Chris! 👋

He recently made the move to Nicaragua from Oklahoma, after spending much of the last 20 years living and working in Tanzania.

He decided it was time to slow things down and start a new chapter here.

Now he's settling into life in San Juan del Sur with his adorable new sidekick, Milo. 🐶

Our favorite Nicaraguan event of the year has come and gone—Palo Lucio 2026! 🇳🇮🎉

The climb began at 1 PM, and after more than two hours of determination (powered along the way by Joyita and cervezas) the white flag at the top of the greasy pole was captured at 3:23 PM. 🏳️

Felicidades to the entire team, with a special shout-out to lsmael, who braved the crazy height and heat to go to the very top of the pole and claim the flag. 💪🏻👊🏻

The tropical storm swell hit hard today in San Juan del Sur. 💔🌊 Several boats were lost and many more were damaged.

A tough day for many in our community. Thinking of you all in the days ahead as you recover from this loss. ⚓💙
