Why live in Nicaragua 🇳🇮 ?

Nicaragua is one of the most beautiful countries in Central America. It is home to a vibrant culture with friendly people, astonishing nature, majestic lakes and volcanoes, and spectacular beaches.

However, as surprising as it can be, Nicaragua still remains somehow unknown and misunderstood by most. Which also makes it still a preserved paradise and a land of many opportunities.

Retirees were the first to relocate to Nicaragua. But for several years, families and younger generations are making the move in increasing numbers, looking for more freedom and a higher quality of life. What conquers them all are Nicaragua’s culture, natural treasures, and its overwhelmingly friendly people wherever they go. The low cost of living (one of the lowest of Central America) is just the cherry on the cake.

Moreover, growing infrastructures (hospital, roads, international schools, …), politics with significant incentives to foreign investment and simple requirements to obtain residency visas, also helps to make this life changing decision.

Personally, I also found in Nicaragua the opportunity of a lifetime, the freedom to start anew and explore new horizons. Now I spend my time and energy achieving a project that matters and has a positive impact. I believe this is also what Nicaragua offers, the opportunity to shape your future the way you want, and gain control over it.

You just have to experience it once!

We have our thoughts like:
- high ceiling to keep it fresh
- lots of outside area to enjoy (rooftop and terrace)
- trees and vegetation to provide shades and keep it green

But tell us, what do you think?

Welcome to HOW IT STARTED part 2 ☺️

Once in Nicaragua, I headed directly to Popoyo where Juan Carlos offered me the opportunity to manage cafe cerveza

New country, new responsibilities and new language. Without knowing it I was probably living one of the most defining moments of my life.
It was an amazing opportunity with its fair share of challenges:
- reopening the hostel and restaurant
- building a new team
- building a storehouse and an apartment
It was my first management experience and I learned a lot in the process, from managing projects from A to Z, bringing ideas to life (new menu, improvement of the hostel, events, marketing campaigns, …), failing then improving, … the list can go on and on.

But most of all, what defines this experience best is the people I met and bonded with.

From the very first day I could rely on the trustworthiness and kindness of Don Mario, the forever caretaker of Cafe Cerveza, and the unlimited support of Dona Yamileth who were the firsts to welcome me in this new adventure.
The cafe cerveza team, with whom I was living this new experience, celebrating challenges and successes, and bringing back to life this special place 💚
I was also warmly welcomed by the Popoyo community within which I made amazing friends.
Not to forget Cafe Cerveza guests that come and go and bring with them all this energy and excitement.

cafe cerveza is also the place where Juan Carlos became my friend and mentor, and where together we gave birth to The Tiny Tribe.
It started with a simple idea, as being the only budget option in the heart of Popoyo, aside from our neighbor, camping Luna, we wanted to offer more to travelers and backpackers that we were welcoming, our very first tribe!
We extended this though to people that can hardly access property, even less to property in such places like Popoyo. Knowing that their energy will bring much more to our tribe. The idea of The Tiny Tribe was born!

Ever since, Cafe Cerveza has been our hive, where we live, think and create.

So thank you Cafe Cerveza, thank you so much, for everything you allow to happen!
And thanks to you all, who have shared this journey with me so far!

Cheers,

Kévin

Hello 🌞

Today I want to share with you few thought about tribes and what it means for us as The Tiny Tribe

Initially, Tribe comes from the latin "Tribus" which means "one third" and referred to as one of the three territorial groups that united to make Rome.

Nowadays and throughout history, tribes are often referred as native groups of individuals living in a defined geographical area and sharing the same culture, values, history, and often religion or beliefs..
They are also defined by their political structure, they are independent, follow common rules/laws and are represented by a chief or tribe leader, seconded by a council, and where every tribe member plays a role in the tribe's life.

However, we believe that the concept of tribe transcends those definitions. And can be applied to small or large groups of people, sharing the same values and culture, willing to organize under leaders in order to achieve greater things.

That is exactly what we aim to achieve with The Tiny Tribe:
Bring together people with shared values, willing to positively impact the community they are part of and enjoy the best life has to offer together.

It means that our tribe will be composed of people willing to embrace the tiny home lifestyle and actively get involved in the positive development of the community we will be part of.

Wish you all a great day!

Cheers,

Kévin

My 8 favorite things to do in Popoyo, Nicaragua:

- Surf, surf and surf again. There are so many breaks to choose from. I would walk to Popoyo main break, a super consistent A-frame reef break, or Santana, a fast and barreling beachbreak. But what I love most is to surf with the sunrise 🌊🏄‍☀️

- Go to the Nahualapa hot springs, there is nothing better than to relax in the hot springs after a big day of surfing. Or just going there with some friends in the evening and having a little barbecue 🌡🛀

- Watch the ever changing sunsets from the Popoyo rock that lies into the ocean like a wrecked ship 🌅

- Do a yoga class up at Magnific Rock - Surf Resort & Yoga Retreat Nicaragua, they have the deck with the best view ever! Even better when my friend Angeles Ponte is teaching 🧘

- Get on the party bus on Friday evening and go to either Amahula Hostel Popoyo or Popoyo Republic Friday parties 💃🕺 (I could also kill for Popoyo Republic brookie 🤤)

- Gather with some friends around a bonfire on the beach and cook some fresh fish bought from the local fishermans 🎣🔥

- Have some steak for Café con Leche bbq on Saturday (they also have an excellent smoked tofu) 🥩 🔥

- Get cerveza famous Sunday soup for lunch! Damn I love this soup! 🍲🤤

I would do that every week and repeat! 💜

What are yours?

Cheers

Kévin

Five reasons we believe tiny houses are great for Nicaragua:

1. They are more affordable 💵

Say goodbye to extensive mortgage and embrace financial freedom by benefitting from Nicaragua low cost of living.

2. Eco-friendly and energy efficient ⚡️

Reduce your energy footprint and have a house easy to power.
Depending on areas, electricity servicing can be an issue in Nicaragua, however tiny houses can easily be powered by alternative energy source like solar energy, which Nicaragua gets plenty!
Opting for alternative energy source also gets you away from rising energy costs.

3. Minimalist life-style 🏡

By living in Nicaragua you will naturally reduce many of your material needs. Which perfectly match with your tiny house.

4. Less stress & more time 🧘‍♀️🧘

Reduced cleaning time and maintenance, are already two features that will help you significantly reduce stress and get more time for yourself. You will attain a piece of mind like never before here in Nicaragua.

5. You don't need much interior space 🏖

Living in Nicaragua, you will spend most of your time outside, at the beach, hanging in a hammock, chilling by the swimming pool, working in your co-working space, around a bonfire or barbecue with friends, just to name a few.
Therefore, you just need the minimum to get to your cozy home whenever you feel like it. That's why our tiny houses will all feature a terrasse, a rooftop and/or balcony.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers,

Hello☀️

I thought I would share with you a bit of my story and how The Tiny Tribe came to life :)

So here we go for HOW IT STARTED part 1 😁

Few years ago, I was still a successful Financial Auditor for one of the biggest accounting firm in the world and living the dream in Luxembourg.

Bit as many other, Covid gave me the opportunity to question many parts of my life, and created the urge of making significant changes! And not only growing my hair 😅

Then slightly more than one year ago, I left my job, my home, basically most things I was afraid of losing. And started a trip where I would travel, surf my heart out, and try to understand new cultures and countries, while hopping I would figure things out on the way.

This led me to Morocco, Sénégal, Costa Rica and Nicaragua where everything happened!
