According to a study by Hayat Estate, the most affordable country in Europe for buying residential property is Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an average price of €1,315 per square meter. It is followed by Greece (€1,463) and Romania (€1,504), making them attractive destinations for more budget-conscious buyers.

On the opposite end, countries like Luxembourg, Iceland, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands have some of the highest property prices in Europe. For instance, the price per square meter in Iceland is around €5,221, while in the Netherlands, it reaches €5,600, representing a significant portion of average monthly income (source: Templo Consulting).

Of course, these are national averages. Prices can vary widely within each country based on location, property type, urban vs rural settings, and more.

In Spain, for example, Castilla-La Mancha is the most affordable region to buy property, averaging €1,224/m² (Infobae). Meanwhile, provincial capitals and coastal areas remain among the most expensive.
