‘I feel like I’m living in a fairytale’
It is one of the oldest farms in Twente: Erve Austie in Beuningen. Farmers from the surrounding area were already gathering there in the Middle Ages. After years of vacancy and decay, it now has new residents: triathletes Rachel Klamer and Richard Murray. “We didn’t just buy a house, we bought a piece of history.”

As a triathlete she traveled the world and lived for her sport, together with her husband Richard Murray (37). Now, 1,5 year after the Paris Olympics, they are now settling down in a monumental farmhouse that has been passed by for years by many of their training sessions.
“I often came here as a child. I grew up in Denekamp. My parents both worked there as doctors. Later they bought a house, close to this farm. This place was always a landmark, a beacon in the landscape. You feel the history when you pass by. ’’My father knew that the farmhouse was for sale. From that moment on, our lives changed radically.’’
