Now we are heading out of the winter season, it’s time to start thinking about spring cleaning and maintenance. Let’s talk about paint.

Maintaining the paint system on your home is critical for the protection of your investment. Exterior paint in good condition doesn’t just make your home look good - it plays a key role in keeping the building weathertight. Due to our country’s harsh sun and environmental factors such as sea spray, paint can deteriorate rather quickly if you don’t keep an eye on it.

Check the condition of your exterior paintwork at least once a year and wash it down with warm water and a soft brush. Try to avoid using a water blaster as some cladding will allow water into the wall assembly under pressure. Most manufacturers will indicate a lifespan before your paint work needs a freshen up. Make sure to check and adhere to their recommendations.

If your home needs repainting, getting the preparation right and using a quality paint product will ensure the paint looks good and protects the house for a much longer period of time.

Checking the condition of your roof will help you identify any issues before they could become costly repairs in the future.

This property had a broken roof tile which wasn't easily visible from ground level.

A reasonably easy fix with a new concrete tile and this roof is good as gold again.

Do any of the rooms in the property you need inspecting look like this?

Before you book a building report, it's important that we have an unobstructed view of all areas of the property to ensure thorough reporting. This might mean temporarily clearing some areas so access is possible.

Our inspections are strictly non-invasive and we may need assistance to inspect some areas if personal items are in the way.

If there are any areas of concern which are obstructed from view at the time of the inspection, we will either recommend a further invasive inspection in our report, or will discuss that with you if necessary.
