It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our treasured friend and long-serving colleague, Tom Hughes.
Tom was diagnosed with incurable glioblastoma brain cancer in March. Following his diagnosis, his children travelled from the United States to be with him, taking Tom home to Minnesota where they lovingly cared for him until his passing on 25 July.
A funeral service celebrating Tom’s life will be held in Minnesota this Thursday, 13 August at 11:00am (CDT), which is Friday, 14 August at 4:00am here in New Zealand.
We understand that Huber Funeral Homes will livestream the service, with a link to be made available on their website for those who would like to join Tom’s family and friends from afar.
Tom was a cherished part of our team for many years, and he will be very sadly missed.
When Tom’s daughter, Kim Hughes, visits Waiheke Island sometime over the next couple of months, we will also host a Celebration of Tom’s Life at Waiheke Real Estate. It will be an opportunity for those who knew and loved Tom to come together, share memories and celebrate the life of a very special man.
We will make a further announcement closer to the time once Kim’s visit and the date of the gathering have been confirmed.
