You don’t always see a leak. Sometimes the first clue is on your water meter.

Photograph the reading before bed, then check it again after at least four hours without using any water. That means no taps, toilet flushing, washing machine, dishwasher or automatic irrigation.

Leave the mains supply on during the test.

If the reading has increased and nothing has used water, you may have a leak worth investigating. Contact a plumber to locate and repair it.

The existing tiled flooring had cracked and deteriorated, so this was one of those cases where replacing the floor made more sense than trying to patch sections.
