I have decided to have a six-month break from Real Estate with Barfoot & Thompson Greenhithe, to take some time out for relaxation, and spend time with family, friends, and enjoy a bit of overseas travel!

I will still be involved in a couple of community events with Barfoot & Thompson later in the year and look forward to catching up with many of you, during these events.

Last week, we held our annual Starship Quiz Night Fundraiser—a way for over 600 members of the Barfoot & Thompson family to show their support for the Starship Foundation's life changing work, in an evening filled with laughs, celebrities, good food and friendly competition.

We're so proud to be a part of helping to support New Zealand families.
We are delighted to announce that this year’s quiz night raised an extraordinary $268,000 which goes towards the purchase of vital medical equipment such as oximeters, heating mattresses and home blood pressure surveillance equipment.

Immigration New Zealand has so far approved residency visas for 84,000 people under the fast-track 2021 Residency Visa scheme announced last year.

The Monetary Policy Committee this week increased the Official Cash Rate (OCR) to 3 percent from 2.5 percent. This increase impacts the interest rates for home lenders.

When will buyers return to the market?

Two weeks ago Tony Alexander, a well respected New Zealand Economist ran a survey to find out the concerns buyers had. The top three....
1. High interest rates
2. Access to finance
3. Paying too much

In Tony's article, he goes into detail about what has to change and when these concerns will be reduced. The good news for sellers, he feels buyers will be substantially less worrisome than they are now, by the end of the year.

Consents for new homes remain at historic highs, but the peak of the construction boom is fast approaching, if it’s not already here, an economist says.

There were 50,736 new homes consented in the year ended June, up 14% from the same time last year, Stats NZ’s latest figures show.

It was the fourth consecutive month in which the annual number of new homes consented surpassed 50,000, but the June figure was below last month’s record of 51,015 homes.
