Signed, sealed, delivered... today!

The signing of a coalition agreement marks the start of the change New Zealand voted for. There’s no doubt this coalition will take New Zealand in a very different direction. Included in this new direction will be policy around the taxation of property ownership.

To that point – there’s no doubt the ‘National inspired’ tax breaks for residential investment will see a resurgence in the investor market. On the back of a firming rental market, we sense many looking hard at their options. For some the cost of renting may promote a ‘time to purchase scenario’. While others will see the additional rental income as a way into property investment.

With immigration at record levels, building permits down and an end to rising interest rates in sight, it may be that winter time in the residential market may be over. We’re entering a season of change.
