ASB has changed their stance on a policy which would have made lending slightly less accessible to investors. Originally, the bank had said that it intended to apply Reserve Bank rules for property investors (which limited loans for existing homes with less than 40% deposit or equity) equally to new homes. However, they have since backtracked on that statement after critics commented that it would stifle the building of new homes. What do you think of their decision?

We’ve said it a few times, and we’ll say it again: auction rooms are sizzling at the moment. These figures prove it: in the first week of February, Barfoot and Thompson handled 185 residential auctions. That is more than three times the number from the corresponding week in February 2020!
