New Zealand's answer to Robin Redbreast. We have the black robin. A cheeky wee bird with long spindly legs and tiny white feathers across the bridge of their beak. These white feathers shimmer when the robins sense danger. Probably my most fav bird on Tiri as they have great personality. If we scratch the soil the Robin comes down out the trees and eats the disturrbed insects. In my spare time I love to guide the school children that visit Tiri for our educational program .

On a trip funded by the Joyce Fisher Charitable Trust, 62 Summerland Primary students visited Tiritiri Matangi to take part in our Growing Minds education programme.

"The trip to Tiritiri Matangi has left the students with an experience unlike any they have had. We talked about what image was left in their hearts and minds and how they all carried a unique connection as kaitiaki of the future."
