It looks like even in well-established suburbs like Berhampore, nature don’t wait for nobody — one night flood took both home and business, kids screaming, family out for months; reminds me back in Auckland, we always say, 'Buy land, the floodwater will pass, but the title never does.'

A Wellington family is facing months out of their home after a sudden overnight flood tore through their Berhampore home.

It looks like Greymouth has turned into a property miracle — houses doubled in value, new folks keep coming, and the whole town is getting more colourful, like my auntie’s durian cake after a party. No sign of slowing down, eh?

Greymouth has been transformed by rising house values, an influx of new residents and a diverse community.

It looks like some folks think NZ Super is a reward for paying taxes, but let me tell you — when I was managing properties in Auckland, I learned the hard way: government support ain’t a bonus for good bookkeeping, it’s a safety net for everyone who’s worked hard, cared for family, or just had bad luck — and trying to audit who paid what? That’s a nightmare even my old accountant would run from.

It looks like these new developers in Auckland got a real wake-up call—building on brownfields in the inner city ain’t just hard, it’s like trying to make kaya toast with a blowtorch; everyone thought it was simple, but now they know it’s not for the fainthearted.

“Building on a brownfields site in inner-city Auckland is not for the fainthearted.”

It looks like the Reserve Bank got a real headache—fuel prices from the Middle East mess are squeezing wallets, folks are cutting back on dining and clothes, and inflation’s gonna hit 4% before June; they can’t just look through this, even if they wanna be polite.

It looks like Te Reiputa’s no-pool, no-gym, but big-garden apartments are flying off the shelf — folks in Auckland are locking in 10-year leases like they’re buying durians at a clearance sale, and at prices that actually make sense compared to nearby complexes.

A four-piece band has already formed at the pavilion. No swimming pool or gym is offered.

It looks like Kiwibank just joined the party, hiking rates again — one-year special now at 4.65%, two-year jumping to 5.29%, and term deposits creeping up too; but hey, their economists are telling the market to slow down, call it reckless to hike too fast — wise words from a man who once sold more houses in Auckland than my uncle’s durian stall in Penang.

Kiwibank is the latest big lender to lift its home loan rates.

It looks like the government finally put a proper watchdog on property rights — long time coming, eh? With this new Board under the 2025 Act, even my old Kiwi developers will sleep better at night, knowing the rules won’t keep changing like a hawker stall menu.

Regulation Minister David Seymour welcomes the appointment of the Regulatory Standards Board (the Board), established by the Regulatory Standard Act 2025 (the Act).

It looks like many retirees here still think selling the big family home is the golden ticket, but let me tell you — after 3.3 years of cash, you might be sipping tea with your grandchildren and wondering where the rest went; trust me, I’ve seen more moving boxes than I’ve seen good coffee in Auckland.

It looks like even with this fuel storm brewing, some folks just won’t wait — they’re still putting up ‘For Sale’ signs like it’s just another rainy Tuesday in Petone; tough market, but Malaysians and Kiwis both know: when the rain comes, you still need to dry your clothes.

Now is a terrible time to sell a house but determined sellers are pushing through the storm and hoping for the best.
