Relocating Houses - New Zealand

Relocating Houses - New Zealand This is a place for those people who are considering relocating a house in New Zealand. Join us!

Real life experience and advice, where to get help and how to avoid making the mistakes that others have made and save you thousands of dollars. Relocating a house is a pastime that supersedes all other forms of killer stress - so let's help you get things together. Everything will be covered, from getting the section to finding a house, financing, who is and who isn't responsible for what, and ho

w to get your ducks in a row to get that house to its new location with its code of compliance. This is your support group, we will find the people to help you and hopefully prevent you from making the mistakes that others before you have made. It will save you thousands and thousands of dollars (trust me - I have made the ultimate errors!!) and save you stress that makes a bull in your garden look like a walk in the park. Hopefully, we can help you get out of the hole that you have dug for yourself (there will be many lion pits that will hit you like a demolition ball to the side of the head).

This page and our house relocation have absolutely nothing to do with a program that is running on one of the television channels – it is just a coincidence that our house moved exactly the same night as the program started (we don’t have television and don’t follow reality shows).

What I am providing is a place for those who are interested in looking at one way of getting into your own home – it turned out that this really was the only affordable option.

It is really important for you to know that you have zero influence on the actual moving of the house – the big trucks and glamour of the drive. For you that is about 1% of the process of getting you into a home - that part is run 100% by the trucking company and in my books they rate as some of the most skilled people I have ever witnessed at their jobs. You cannot choose the date – they are booked up and will fit you in. You cannot dictate or even suggest how things should be done – they know the trucking, roading and moving limits.

This page is the how to of getting you to the point of being able to contract that trucking company, and how to get the house up to compliance standard, getting your section, putting together your business plan for getting your funding, finding the right people to help you, getting you through consents, being aware of the pitfalls that will stymie every plan that you have made – and keeping your sanity.

Once you have engaged the trucking company, the actual house move is out of your hands - I have a guide on what you need to go through in your contract with the company, because as always in this game – you are still responsible.

It will be fun to watch the TV program with big trucks and the houses going past. Face it, it is always exhilarating seeing momentous human achievements – picking up and moving a house is no mean feat, and these guys should be celebrated for their skills that equal any spectacular sporting feat.
