I know that utilising shipping containers as the building blocks for housing has been popularised for some time now. However, I truly think that the two level cabin that this family constructed is the coolest one I have seen yet!

What do you get when you combine an artistic family, B-grade shipping containers, and a truckload of creativity?

Wow!!

Like it or not, you can't escape the dramatic way this home sits in the landscape.

I can only imagine the detailed engineering required to support this cantilevered design.

I love the external look and the way the timber board way leads the eye in towards the structure....

What do you guys think?

I think this build is just stunning!

I do agree that is a large build cost for a one-bedroom home, however this is one of my favourite parts of the country and the views are stunning. I have driven this road and can only imagine how difficult access was...

A remote Marlborough Sounds location with perilous access turns a small build into a big task.

This home is a full on example of 'Brutalist' architecture....

Not to my tastes, but still a very striking building, and I am sure the views are amazing!

It's a fabulous back-to-basics beach house in Chile - don't knock it.
