💡Tenant Tip

Want a warmer home without damp and mould? Turn your heat pump on and leave it on! It’s all about working smarter, not harder. Save these quick tips for a cosy, mould-free winter:

- Set your heat pump to 18°C–21°C: Cranking the thermostat to 26°C won't heat the room any faster—it just burns through extra electricity! Keep it steady to save cash.

- Turn it down to 16°C if you are going out, this stops the chill and allows it to heat quicker when you get home.

- Lock in "Heat" mode: Switch your unit strictly to Heat (look for the sun icon ☀️). Avoid "Auto" mode, or your heat pump will switch between heating and cooling to maintain a temperature rather than slowing down when it reaches the temperature. Switching from heating to cooling is what uses more power!

- Open windows and doors for 10–15 minutes every morning. Getting rid of that heavy, damp air makes it way easier (and cheaper) for your heat pump to warm the house.

- Run those extractor fans: Turn them on before you cook or shower, and leave them running for 10 minutes after you finish to trap moisture at the source.

✨ Bonus Tip: Set your heat pump fan speed to "Auto" so the pump can adjust its airflow naturally once the room hits the perfect temperature!

Tenants are responsible for keeping the house clean and tidy. This includes keeping it in a condition that doesn’t encourage mould and damp.

Here are a few simple ways to help prevent mould and damp:
• Open windows and curtains daily to let fresh air and sunlight in
• Use extractor fans when cooking or showering
• Use your heatpump, warm surfaces are less likely to have condensation on them
• Wipe condensation from windows and walls
• Dry clothes outside where possible
• Leave a small gap between furniture and walls for airflow

If mould does appear, clean it as soon as possible. A half and half solution of white vinegar and water is an easy and effective way to treat mould, just take care not to spray it on soft surfaces that may bleach. Wipe it off with a cloth not a brush to avoid spores spreading.
