📰 Westport Woman Says “That’s Not What I Meant” After Husband Installs Porta Loo Beside Bed

WESTPORT — A Westport woman has expressed disappointment after her husband responded to her request for an ensuite by acquiring a bright orange event-style porta loo and placing it beside their bed.

Anita Schitt said she had mentioned that she would like an ensuite added to the couple's bedroom.

She said she had been thinking along the lines of a proper bathroom with a shower, vanity, lighting and a permanently installed toilet.

Her husband Jack, meanwhile, was thinking about the couple's bank account.

Wanting to keep costs down so the pair could put more money towards an upcoming trip to Hanmer Springs, Jack began looking for cheaper alternatives.

He eventually found what he described as “an absolute bargain” on Facebook Marketplace and drove to Barrytown to collect it from a bloke who was selling a commercial portable toilet.

The bright orange unit was the type commonly seen at sporting events, concerts, festivals and outdoor gatherings.

Jack reportedly considered it a perfectly suitable alternative to a conventional ensuite.

“It does exactly what a toilet needs to do,” Jack said.

“And it was cheap.”

Anita said she knew something was wrong when she first saw the enormous orange plastic structure sitting inside the bedroom.

“I just looked at Jack.”

“Then I looked at the toilet.”

“Then I looked at Jack again.”

Jack, however, was reportedly delighted with the purchase.

“We've saved thousands.”

“That means more money for Hanmer Springs.”

He has since referred to the installation as the couple's “budget ensuite solution” and reportedly believes the project has added significant value to the property.

Anita disagrees.

“I said I wanted an ensuite.”

“I didn't say I wanted the same toilet they have at the Westport A&P Show sitting beside my bed.”

Jack said Anita was being overly particular.

“She never said it had to look like a normal bathroom.”

“And technically, it's even closer to the bed than most ensuites.”

He has reportedly placed toilet paper and a small bottle of hand sanitiser beside the unit and described the arrangement as “fully equipped.”

Anita has refused to acknowledge the area as a bathroom.

Jack has apparently responded by calling it “the bathroom zone.”

The couple's Hanmer Springs holiday remains booked, with Jack reportedly pleased that the money saved on the ensuite will allow them to “actually afford lunch while we're there.”

At time of publication, Anita was considering asking Jack to remove the porta loo.

Jack was reportedly opposed to the idea, saying it would be “financially irresponsible to throw away a perfectly good bathroom.”
