Things have ticked along smoothly this week. No great dramas. No surprises. A little hard work learning a new computer program for ordering property maintenance.

All in all. A good week.

Today I find that I am, yet again, having to make an application to the Tenancy Tribunal as a result of Practice Note 2016/1.

We have an instance of clear damage being done by the tenant to a door handle which was repaired last week. We are not allowed to discuss this with the tenants. It means we go to court for a ruling.

Landlords run a business. It is good business to have security of income. Many lanlords opt for Fixed Term Tenancies (FTT) and they are tied into renting the property to the tenants for the duration of the tenancy.

On the flip side, the tenants sign up for a specific timeframe and lose the ability to move at three weeks notice. The tenants, however, have security of knowing they will not be asked to leave until the FTT has ended, if then.
