Go to one of their open homes.

Don't tell them you're thinking of selling. Just watch.
How do they greet buyers? Do they know the property inside out? Is their marketing professional? Do they follow people up afterwards?

An appraisal tells you what an agent says they'll do.
An open home shows you what they actually do.
