Today we’d like to announce that Barfoot & Thompson has taken a 50% shareholding in Lodge Real Estate, effective from 30 June 2022.

The Auckland-based real estate agency has bought the full shareholding of David Couch. Managing director Jeremy O’Rourke remains a 50% shareholder.

“After 52 years with Lodge, David Couch has decided it is time to retire fully and sell down his fifty percent holding in the company. While we are sad to see David step down, it is also a very exciting time for our Lodge team,” says O’Rourke.

He adds that the change in shareholding will not affect day-to-day operations.

“Our staff, agents and clients won’t see any material changes. We will retain the Lodge Real Estate brand and our team remains the same.”

Yesterday’s Budget announcement brought good news for first home buyers, with house price caps removed for First Home Loans, and the caps lifted on First Home Grants to align with market changes.

Funding will be available for an estimated 7000 additional First Home Grants and 2500 extra First Home Loans a year. The house price caps and income caps will now be reviewed every six months.

Hamilton’s cap rises to $650,000 for existing properties and $725,000 for new builds.

There will be no price cap for First Home Loans, and First Home Grant caps are increased, against a backdrop of a cooling but still expensive housing market.
