It was great to be on a panel talking in front of Lincoln Uni students a couple of weeks back about Southland and the opportunities in the regions rural industry.

One of the questions that stood out to me on the day was ‘What differentiates Southland’s rural industry compared to others?’. Apart from the obvious answers; soil varieties, water reliability etc the simple answer was the people in the region. As corny as it may sound, Southland farmers willingness to try new things, take risks and give different people in the industry a real go, attribute to the on-going success and growth of the rural sector in the region.

Great addition to our team 🤝🤝

Country & Co are excited to introduce our new salesperson W***y Mills, who is starting with us late March this year.

After 14 years serving Southland farmers from the sky as an agricultural helicopter pilot, W***y is excited to be starting a new chapter on the ground, joining the team at Country & Co as a rural salesperson. He is a familiar face across the province, having built strong relationships throughout Southland’s farming community.

W***y's connection to the rural sector runs deep, with family roots spanning an aerial application business based in Otautau in the 1980s, through to his mother’s 24 years as matron and manager of the Southland Boys’ High School hostel.

W***y extends his sincere thanks to Hayden Cherry, the team at Southland Helicopters and the many colleagues and clients he has worked alongside. Looking ahead, W***y is keen to support farming families through their real estate journeys, drawing on his firsthand understanding of rural communities and the land. His strong people skills and work ethic align naturally with being successful in real estate.

Outside of work W***y enjoys spending time with his wife Anna and their two kids and when time allows, W***y enjoys various sports and spending time in the outdoors.
