Bleeding blue is almost a prerequisite when you work at Bayleys.
But if I'm being completely honest... not all of us are blue right through to the core.
After Queensland's State of Origin win last night, (have followed them since 1987) I swapped one blue jersey for a maroon one this morning.
The office banter today has been outstanding. Half the team celebrating, the other half suddenly claiming they "didn't even watch it."
Good luck to my NSW-supporting colleagues for Game 3. You're going to need it at Suncorp. 😉

Ready to brave the cold for a great cause? ❄️🌊
The Live Ocean Winter Dip is happening this Monday, 8th June, and Bayleys Bay of Islands are getting behind it for 2026.
Come and join us for a mid-winter icy plunge and help raise awareness for the importance of a healthy ocean. It is about getting involved, having a bit of fun, and supporting something that impacts us all.

Bayleys is proud to be an elite sponsor of the Live Ocean Foundation, established by Peter Burling and Blair Tuke in 2019 to scale up action for ocean health. The foundation supports leading marine scientists, innovators, and communicators who are driving real impact for a healthy ocean and a healthy future.

Our ocean is one of our greatest allies in the fight against climate change, but it is at a tipping point. Many of the challenges it faces sit below the surface, out of sight but not out of consequence. As guardians of one of the largest ocean territories in the world, New Zealand has a vital role to play.

The Morning Hustle is fast becoming a standout monthly event. Real conversations, strong local turnout, and a genuine pulse on what’s happening in our community. It’s great to see it gaining momentum.

Growth is coming to Kerikeri and Waipapa at a scale many didn’t realise. The real conversation is how it gets delivered.
We talked through:
• More medium density and terraced housing
• Buildings up to 4 to 5 storeys in parts
• Increased pressure on traffic and infrastructure
• A growing role for larger, Auckland-based developers, with concern that local trades could be overlooked
That sparked strong views. Opportunity on one side, protecting what makes Kerikeri special on the other.
What stood out was how many people were surprised by the level of change ahead.
These decisions are happening now and will shape our community for decades.
The Morning Hustle is about staying informed, challenging thinking, and showing up for what matters locally.
