www.middlerock.co.nz. Middle Rock offers two options for visitors - farm touring and farmstay accommodation. We live approximately 100kms from Christchurch, an hour's drive, in the scenic Lake Coleridge area, a gateway to Canterbury's high country recreation. Farm tour visitors get to spend almost half a day with, ourselves, the owners, as

we complete our daily farming activities on a typical NZ sheep farm. No matter how small, we only host one group at a time enabling visitors to enjoy a very personalised experience according to their particular interests. Our farmstay accommodation, the Shearers' Quarters, provides modern, warm self-contained and self catering accommodation for 12-14 guests. The main building sleeps eight people and two adjoining cabins can sleep an additional four people. There is also a sofa divan in the main living area. Middle Rock is sited very close to three ski fields, including Mt Olympus and Mt Hutt, the walkways of the Lake Coleridge Basin, the Mt Hutt Bike Park and only 5 kms from Terrace Downs Golfing Resort. Our farmstay accommodation is an ideal base for groups with an outdoor recreation focus particularly inter-generational family groups, guests enjoying reunions and special interest groups while our farm tours are a popular option for internationals wishing to experience NZ farm life. Strange things arrive in the post these days. This little newborn was found wandering aimlessly far from Mum when Debbie from arrived. She scooped her up, sent a tracking message and left her safely tucked up at the door.

We're pleased to report Mother, baby and twin sister are reunited. A happy end to what could have been a sad story on a very windy day. Great work, Debbie. We're all celebrating one lucky lamb! 🥂🥂

PS. PS ...... . that's not all! A trip back to check on the nursery ... some hours later and Woo-hoo, baby no 3 has arrived!! We've got triplets! 🐑🐑🐑 What a day! 😆

THIS is your playground! ……. Be Quick!

Due to a cancellation we have a prime school holiday ski vacancy at our farmstay. July 15th onwards. Close to Mt Hutt, also Mt Olympus and Porter Heights ski fields. Plenty of room for several families to enjoy our winter playground. Check out our area map for other activities you can do …. Jet boating, horse trekking, lots of walks, dining and hospitality close by as are the Opuke, Methven, hot pools.

Wake up in our winter wonderland ……. Fresh powder awaits!

Only 45 minutes from the Mt Hutt ski area, our farmstay was fully booked for July and August but the bubble has burst! Fully self contained, excellent heating, sleeps up to 12. From $180 per night.

We now have three dates available:
Sunday July 4th up to 5 nights
Monday August 23rd up to 4 nights
Sunday 29 August up to 5 nights

And …. if you miss out, there’s plenty of summer vacancies!

Going, Going, Gone! . . . . the excitement of an auction sale . . . . Today it’s the turn of Middle Rock’s stock to go ‘under the hammer’. The banter of the auctioneer, Swanny clad farmers, agents, truckies debating markets, the weather, the economy . . . . Time stands still in the sale yards! In the rhythm of rural life, traditional livestock sales are iconic!
