On Friday the Tasman Village Cinema opened it doors again and the movie showing was Song Sung Blue, which featured Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson singing Neil Diamond songs. A great turn out for this afternoon of entertainment. Heads were bobbing in time to the music, hands were tapping and yes many people sang along. A nice shared afternoon tea was enjoyed at half time. What will be the next film showed? Well you you have to wait and see.

Saturday 15th August the social club ladies provided a delicious selection of soup and rolls. 6 different soups in all. It was then followed by a dessert of apple slice and ice cream. Everyone went home full and had enjoyed a good time chatting away with other people in the village. To top it all off there was some meat raffles. The writer actually won one of them. Carry on the good work ladies, we all look forward to the next event.

What a cold winter we have so far. Cold but some beautiful days. This weather doesn't deter us from still enjoying life. The village is still alive. Plenty to do everyday. Morning teas, card games, indoor bowls, mens get together,( all of the wrongs of the world are fixed in this 2 hours). If you are feeling a bit lazy we still have tai chi twice a week, exercise class and bingo or time for the gals to come together and catch up.
August will see a few extra events to help get us through the next month of winter weather. On the 15th is our soup and rolls luncheon and on the 21st we are having another movie afternoon.
And happy hour every Friday night now. Another time to have a chat and a few laughs.
Life in the village is so busy. Come and join us.

Saturday 27th we joined together for a pot luck lunch for our mid year Xmas lunch. Residents provided an amazing selection of food and of course desert. They were also lucky to be entertained by the Tasman Village Line Dancers. (I say lucky, however they might have thought different. It was a fun afternoon, lots of great conversation, laughs and comradeship.

Last Friday we had an enjoyable afternoon. After a get together and a shared afternoon tea, we got watch an interesting DVD on historical moments in history in NZ. It brought back so many memories for most of us. It is always fun to look back on history. Some of us stayed behind for a few drinks afterwards to continue remembering the old times.

Friday night Rugby. A small turn out to watch the Chiefs vs Crusaders super rugby semi final, but after BBQ dinner, and placing our bets for the final score, we settled down to enjoy the game. Chiefs supporters were not disappointed with a score of 42-7. Looking forward to the finals, at least we know the Chiefs are playing.
